Providing patients and their representatives with accurate information during the admission process is an important responsibility because it will drive their decision-making throughout the course of care. Properly informing patients and their representatives of what they are signing or agreeing to can help prevent unnecessary costs to the patient, the hospice, and the Medicare program. This course reviews the medical definition of informed consent and the implications of that definition for hospices.
