With body dissatisfaction at an all-time high and rates of obesity and chronic disease rising, consumers are overwhelmed, confused, and desperate to try diets and supplements that promise weight loss. However, many of the fad diets that encourage elimination without justification may have short- and long-term health consequences. Nutrition recommendations for losing weight must also preserve lean mass, decrease fat mass, and optimize health. To resonate and educate, strategies must be sustainable, inclusive, realistic, and affordable.
