This course covers the principles of safe patient handling programs or "no lift" programs. It outlines the risks associated with the manual lifting of patients, discusses the benefits of safe lifting programs and reviews safe lifting equipment and assistive devices. This course also addresses how to discuss safe lifting with patients and familiarizes learners with a safe lifting procedure. For detailed instruction of the operation of your specific lift or assistive device, please consult the manufacturer's instructions and receive training from your organization.
This course is designed to meet the needs of organizations with safe patient handling or "no lift" programs and may help organizations meet their state requirements for training on the risks of manual lifting in the following states: CA, IL, NJ, MN, MD, RI, WA, OH, NY and TX.
