Workplace injuries take a huge toll on home health and hospice workers. In this course, learners will explore the unique safety risks that home healthcare providers encounter, including potential musculoskeletal injuries, personal safety risks, fire risks and exposure risks. The course was designed in alignment with OSHA guidelines to reduce risks for injury and illness for home healthcare workers and addresses strategies for back safety and transfers, stress management, violence prevention and automobile safety as well as communication techniques to talk with patients about safety.

Objectives:
1) Discuss safety risks in home health and hospice
2) Review strategies for preventing musculoskeletal injuries, contact exposure, and mental and emotional stress
3) Address strategies for approaching emergency situations and personal safety
4) Learn how to communicate about safety

This course has been verified by Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP). It was also designed in alignment with ACHC standards for home health and hospice, and it provides training to help organizations comply with the OSH Act of 1970:
