1. An Introduction to the Impostor Experience
This chapter begins by inviting participants to remember an experience of feeling like an imposter. The question of impostor “phenomenon” or “syndrome” is addressed, and the impostor experience is defined. Contributing factors, comorbid mental health conditions, and career impacts are identified.
2. Impostor Phenomenon Measurement Scales
Four scales for assessing impostor phenomenon levels are introduced. Participants are invited to complete the Leary Impostorism Scale.
3. Research Examining an Impostor Syndrome Educational Workshop
Components of an interprofessional educational impostor syndrome workshop are reviewed. Key research results are highlighted.
4. Strategies to Address the Impostor Experience
Eight strategies to address impostor thoughts and feelings are presented. Participants are invited to recall the experience of being an impostor they identified at the beginning of the webinar and reflect upon it through the lens of the eight strategies.
5. Interview With an Early Career Physical Therapist
An early career physical therapist discusses her imposter experience and the strategies she engages to effectively address it.
6. Question & Answer Session
