1. Case Scenario and Course Overview
In this chapter, we will introduce the agenda and learning objective for this course and present an example of a scenario you may encounter in your work with patients.
2. ADL Modifications for Eating, Dressing, and Grooming
Physical and sometimes mental decline are evident in most elderly patients. This chapter will summarize how these types of decline affect home care and patients' abilities to safely perform these specific ADLs.
3. ADL Modifications for Toileting, Transfers, and Bathing
Often the declining patient will need considerable assistance in safe ability to move throughout the home. In this section the participant will see how to modify the environment to provide safe care with transferring and bathing.
4. Observing and Reporting: Documenting Changes and the Care Plan
The care plan is considered the road map for home care aides. Documentation that follows this care plan is a part of all home care patients. This chapter will look at ways to document the care that is being provided and also look at the care plan needs modification as the patient declines.
