Given that a correct diagnosis is extremely important to the quality of life and care for people living with dementia, this course will provide deeper information about Alzheimer’s, Vascular, and Lewy Body by discussing the expected changes and symptoms, as well as providing demonstrations to show varying characteristics. . Finally, the session will provide alternative screening techniques, knowledge about the different dementias, and support for those providing treatment as well as care to be better advocates and partners for people living with each type.

This decreased participation and physical activity negatively impacts the patient’s quality of life. Join Dr. Wing as she presents an innovative progression of interventions from simple to complex balance activities to challenge and facilitate balance for function in a variety of environments.

Orthoses for immobilization can also be applied to specific populations for a variety of goals beyond support and protection. Therapists may be required to apply orthoses to the upper extremity presenting with abnormal or increased muscle tone as seen in patients with neurological conditions such as post brain trauma or stroke. Increased muscle tone can lead to soft tissue contractures, muscle and tendon shortening and joint deformities. In this course, orthoses designed to maintain muscle and soft tissue length and prevent joint contractures are described. Learn more
