Susan B. Perry
PT, DPT
Susan B. Perry, PT, DPT, is Professor and Curriculum Director in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA. She has been a full-time faculty member at Chatham since 1995, where her primary teaching assignment includes adult neurologic rehabilitation. Her neurologic practice experience has spanned over 30 years, in settings from the ICU to outpatient rehabilitation.
She has published in the areas of functional outcomes in patients with stroke and traumatic brain injury; fall and fracture prevention; and knowledge translation in neurologic physical therapy. She was honored with APTA's Education Section's Distinguished Educator Award in 2012, and the Neurology Section's Service to the Section Award in 2014.

Clinical Management of Cerebellar Dysfunction
This course provides content to support clinical management decisions for persons with cerebellar dysfunction. Foundational information focuses on the specific role of the cerebellum in motor learning and motor control, and how dysfunction can influence limb and eye movement, balance, and gait. The course includes standardized examination tools, prioritized elements of the neurologic exam, and current intervention approaches. Finally, content will be applied to a patient case, with video.

Motor Learning in Neurologic Populations
This course builds on basic elements of motor learning, such as practice schedule and the provision of feedback. Classic theories are briefly reviewed, and more depth is provided on contemporary issues in motor learning, such as attentional focus, sleep, errorless learning, mental practice, and the Challenge Point Framework. The course will provide evidence on specific impairments of motor task learning in selected neurologic populations. It will conclude with case-based implementation of appropriate interventions to optimize skill acquisition.
