Mitchell Voss

Mitchell Voss is an occupational therapist at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he specializes in the efficient return-to-work facilitation of injured workers. His clinical caseload also includes individuals with hand and upper extremity injuries. Mitchell received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Carroll University in 2010, a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Mount Mary University in 2014, a Master of Business Administration from Lakeland University in 2017, and a postprofessional occupational therapy doctorate from Mount Mary University in 2022. Mitchell has presented at both the state and national level and has published in peer-reviewed journals. In 2017, he participated in the Emerging Leaders Development Program for the American Occupational Therapy Association. Mitchell also holds an ErgoScience Physical Work Performance Evaluation and the OccuPro Industrial Ergonomic Evaluator certification. He holds memberships in both the Wisconsin Occupational Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association and is the AOTA Representative Assembly member for the state of Wisconsin. In addition to his clinical practice, Mitchell also is adjunct faculty at numerous occupational therapy programs in Wisconsin.

The course will provide a basic understanding of work rehabilitation implementation and programming. The course will identify the history of work rehabilitation programs and the terms and definitions associated with the progression of the programming itself. Required equipment and staff will be explored along with how to implement a successful work rehabilitation program. The treatment and programming will be identified and explained along with demonstrations related to the treatment within the work rehabilitation program itself. The discharge process in work rehabilitation programs will be explained and the billing procedures outlined, although this varies depending on state and insurer.

The course will provide an understanding of the overall return-to-work process. The course will explore the various types of injuries and the industries in which these typically occur. The rehabilitation professionals' impact on the injured worker is identified both prior to and after injury, along with the ways in which rehabilitation professionals impact the injured worker during both of these phases. An interview with an occupational health clinician provides insight into a typical day, and the role of collaboration between rehabilitation professionals and occupational health clinicians is assessed.

This course will provide an introduction to ergonomics as it relates to managing the setup of the office worker. Multiple ergonomic assessments that could be implemented to use within an office ergonomics program will be identified, and education on how to utilize them will be completed. The webinar will detail common risk factors of poor office ergonomics and how to make recommendations and adjustments to assist in improving productivity and decreasing pain. Case studies will be evaluated to determine the effectiveness of interventions and their positive impacts on the office worker. The intended audience includes athletic trainers, occupational therapists, and physical therapists in both the hospital and outpatient settings.

An Introduction to Functional Capacity Evaluations
The course will provide a basic understanding of what a functional capacity evaluation (FCE) entails and the theoretical basis and models associated with the evaluation. The course will identify the specific components of the FCE and what specific tests are associated with the FCE. There will be demonstrations associated with some of the specific testing parameters, along with the outcomes associated with the completion of the test. The use of FCEs will also be examined during the course, including how they can impact the patient and set up further care. A clinician who supported and implemented the use of FCEs in the clinic setting will be interviewed to offer strategies, tips, and challenges correlating to the use of FCEs.
