Julie Wambaugh

PhD, CCC-SLP, F-ASHA

Julie Wambaugh, Ph.D., CCC/SLP is Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Utah and is a Research Career Scientist at the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System. Dr. Wambaugh teaches graduate courses in Aphasia and Motor Speech Disorders.

Her research is focused on the development of theoretically-motivated and clinically-applicable treatments for acquired apraxia of speech and/or aphasia. Her research has been continually funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Rehabilitation Research and Development for more than 20 years. She has presented and published extensively on the topics of treatment of apraxia of speech and of aphasia. She is past Chair and a current member of the Apraxia of Speech Treatment Guidelines Writing Committee for the Academy of Neurologic Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is also a former coordinator for ASHA's Special Interest Group 2, is a current member of ASHA's Publication Board, and is an ASHA Fellow.

The course begins by introducing the participant to sound production treatment, including it's basic tenants and roots in the research literature. The participant will then be instructed in the production of stimuli for treatment and assessment purposes within sound production treatment, and how to administer the sound production treatment hierarchy.
