ChrisTiana joyfully approaches change management and organizing by combining scholarship of historical social justice foundations, contemporary analysis of 21st-century social consciousness, and critical analysis and forecasting of social trends, and they have experience as an intersectional professional and academic. ChrisTiana believes our history will predict our future and finds it invaluable to understand where we've come from and where we're going. Through this theoretical framework, ObeySumner seeks to empower individuals and organizations through tactful narrative identity development, innovative equity evolution guidance, and transformative education and thought leadership. For those who are still dipping their toes into the world of equity and anti-racism work, ObeySumner also specializes in using elements of counseling and social psychology to help "well-intentioned" become "well-aware." This course gives healthcare professionals foundational knowledge of implicit or unconscious bias, including a definition of this type of bias and a history of its many origins. The course provides examples of implicit bias in everyday life as well as in healthcare settings. Clinicians will learn ways to debias and become aware of the impact of a person's behavior versus intent. With this information, providers can improve relationships with patients and, ultimately, health outcomes.
