Dr. Reimer received both her bachelor of science degree in health sciences and master's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Findlay and her doctorate in occupational therapy from Indiana University. She boasts more than 20 years of clinical experience with geriatric and neurologically impaired populations, including serving as a regional manager and educator for several rehabilitation organizations. Additionally, Dr. Reimer codeveloped and teaches the CSRS certification, which is the only certification in stroke rehabilitation. She is a member of the American Society of Neurorehabilitation, the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Indiana Occupational Therapy Association, and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and she is a member of several regional and national practice committees, such as the AOTA's national credentialing committee. Dr. Reimer has presented courses across North America on kinesiology taping and stroke rehabilitation and has lectured extensively for PT and OT programs across the United States.

Presented by Angela Reimer, OTD, MOT, OTR, CBIST
Integrating ADL Tasks Into Upper Extremity Rehabilitation Post Stroke
Evidence shows that salience and use are two major drivers for neuroplasticity and upper extremity recovery. Prioritizing the goals and needs of patients is challenging in the current healthcare environment, and there is little guidance available on integrating ADL tasks into treatment sessions. This course will provide a rationale for the use of ADLs as a treatment modality for upper extremity recovery. The course will also provide treatment ideas that can be immediately integrated into practice.
Strategies to Integrate Function Into Rehabilitation Post Stroke
Presented by J.J. Mowder-Tinney, PT, PhD, NCS, C/NDT, CSRS, CEEAA and Angela Reimer, OTD, MOT, OTR, CBIST
Strategies to Integrate Function Into Rehabilitation Post Stroke
Individuals are at high risk for a variety of impairments and functional limitations post stroke. Commonly, individuals experience significant deficits that have a profound impact on movement. Prioritizing patient needs to improve functional task performance is challenging in the current healthcare environment, and there is limited direction on how to proceed.
This course will help bridge the gap of providing evidence-based care while focusing on the common priority needs of patients following a stroke. The focus will be on providing efficient and realistic clinical applications to achieve the greatest impact on the use of the upper extremity. In addition, improving transfers and balance for a variety of patient levels will result in increased safety during movement.
Positioning and Protecting the Hemiplegic Upper Extremity
Presented by Angela Reimer, OTD, MOT, OTR, CBIST
Positioning and Protecting the Hemiplegic Upper Extremity
Effective positioning of the hemiplegic extremity is important to reduce the risk of subluxation, contracture, and pain. Therapists and family members often have difficulty identifying an appropriate strategy to manage the limb, and inconsistencies in practice are common across all levels of care. This course will assist therapists in clinical decision-making when determining the most appropriate positioning strategies for patients with a hemiplegic upper extremity.
Identifying Priorities for Long-Term Rehabilitation Post Stroke
Presented by J.J. Mowder-Tinney, PT, PhD, NCS, C/NDT, CSRS, CEEAA and Angela Reimer, OTD, MOT, OTR, CBIST
Identifying Priorities for Long-Term Rehabilitation Post Stroke
Much of the information available on rehabilitation post stroke focuses on the acute and subacute phases of recovery; however, it is imperative for therapists to prioritize long-term management of deficits.
This course will help bridge the gap of providing evidence-based care while focusing on long-term management of stroke. The focus will be on providing efficient and realistic clinical applications to achieve the greatest impact and decrease the risk of permanent disability.
Superior Rehabilitation: Using Practical Strategies for Aging Adults Part 1 (Recorded Webinar)
Presented by J.J. Mowder-Tinney, PT, PhD, NCS, C/NDT, CSRS, CEEAA and Angela Reimer, OTD, MOT, OTR, CBIST
Superior Rehabilitation: Using Practical Strategies for Aging Adults Part 1 (Recorded Webinar)
This course is a recording of a previously hosted live webinar event. Polling and question submission features are not available for this recording. Format and structure may differ from standard MedBridge courses.
The U.S. Census Bureau projects that by 2050, the number of persons over the age of 65 in the United States will nearly double to 40.2 million persons. Within this population, many common functional challenges are present that require evidence-based and person-centered care. This webinar will provide a comprehensive approach to providing person-centered care to the aging adult population and highlight key strategies to improve outcomes, including which outcome measures to utilize, how to incorporate motor learning strategies, adjustments to optimize care for occupational therapists, and guidance for diagnosing specific exercise and balance challenges. A top priority, as noted in the evidence, is for therapists to provide sufficient intensity when working with the aging adult. Additionally, participants will have a unique and interactive opportunity to analyze movement with the speakers as well as time for questions on comparing various options for adjusting the approach depending on the setting.
