Dr. Reimer received both her bachelor of science degree in health sciences and master's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Findlay and her doctorate in occupational therapy from Indiana University. She boasts more than 20 years of clinical experience with geriatric and neurologically impaired populations, including serving as a regional manager and educator for several rehabilitation organizations. Additionally, Dr. Reimer codeveloped and teaches the CSRS certification, which is the only certification in stroke rehabilitation. She is a member of the American Society of Neurorehabilitation, the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Indiana Occupational Therapy Association, and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and she is a member of several regional and national practice committees, such as the AOTA's national credentialing committee. Dr. Reimer has presented courses across North America on kinesiology taping and stroke rehabilitation and has lectured extensively for PT and OT programs across the United States.

Individuals are at high risk for a variety of impairments and functional limitations post stroke. Commonly, individuals experience significant deficits that have a profound impact on movement. Prioritizing patient needs to improve functional task performance is challenging in the current healthcare environment, and there is limited direction on how to proceed.
This course will help bridge the gap of providing evidence-based care while focusing on the common priority needs of patients following a stroke. A top priority, as noted in the evidence, is for therapists to provide sufficient intensity when working with the aging adult. Additionally, participants will have a unique and interactive opportunity to analyze movement with the speakers as well as time for questions on comparing various options for adjusting the approach depending on the setting.
