As the COVID-19 pandemic spread across the United States, stay-at-home orders, limited social interactions, and the cancelation of many life events resulted in increased stress levels and a subsequent rise in mental health concerns for the general population. In addition, those Americans deemed essential workers, and healthcare workers who were regularly exposed to both the virus and the increasing trauma of the pandemic, experienced burnout, traumatic stress, and an increased risk for developing mental health conditions.
