1. Water Principles' Impact on Therapy for the Child With a Sensory-Motor Disorder
This chapter will review water principles in general and how they positively impact successful therapy treatments for children with a sensory-motor processing disorder/Autism Spectrum via lecture and pool lab examples. It is important to be knowledgeable about how the water principles can directly and positively impact treatment sessions and carry over in order to to make them the most effective.
2. Evidence-Based Research —Aquatic Therapy for the Child With a Sensory-Motor Disorder/ Autism Spectrum
Current aquatic evidence-based research will be reviewed on aquatic therapy with the child with autism and/or a sensory-motor processing disorder. This research is important in determining if it supports aquatic therapy as a successful treatment approach for therapy. Treatment techniques will be demonstrated that support this research and/or diagnosis.
3. Water Principles' Impact on Therapy for the Child With Auditory, Tactile, and/or Visual Processing Impairments
This chapter will review water principles and how they positively impact auditory, tactile, and visual processing via lecture and pool lab examples. It is important to be knowledgeable about how the water principles and specific aquatic therapy techniques directly and positively impact auditory, tactile, and visual processing to make the aquatic treatment and carry over most effective.
4. Water Principles' Impact on Therapy for the Child With Poor Vestibular Processing
This chapter will review water principles and how they positively impact vestibular processing via lecture and pool lab examples. It is important to be knowledgeable about how the water principles and specific aquatic therapy techniques directly and positively impact vestibular processing to make the aquatic treatment and carry over most effective.
