OTPs are the experts in activity analysis and functional-based therapeutic interventions. This allows them to be key players in fall prevention at home for patients. 1. Where Do Falls Most Often Occur?

OTPs need to know where to focus their attention in their evaluations and treatments. Learning where falls are most likely to happen can help OTPs identify fall risk quicker in their assessments and give them a jumping-off point for treatment planning.

2. Addressing Falls Effectively and Efficiently in OT Evaluations at Home

Efficiency is a common struggle for OTPs, and this chapter will assist learners in gathering an abundance of meaningful information in an evaluation related to fall risk and prevention. This will help guide treatment planning and goal writing.

3. Getting Outdoors to Address Fall Prevention

Home assessments often stop within the walls of the home when OTPs should consistently address falls in the yard, garden, or garage. Men have more falls at home outside than anywhere else, and it is an often-overlooked assessment area. Goal writing will also be covered to support reimbursement.
