1. Tip 1: Understand Your Responsibility as a CF Mentor
This chapter will review the steps of the clinical fellowship experience created by ASHA. The definition of the clinical fellowship process and timelines will be discussed, along with the importance of understanding state and local regulations.
2. Tip 2: Be a Prepared Mentor
This chapter will identify and explain the supervisory stages and styles of the Anderson continuum of supervision. This model is the one primarily used by the SLP profession. Effective methods for communicating with clinical fellows will also be explored.
3. Tip 3: Move CF to an Independent Level
This chapter will discuss methods in which CF mentors can cultivate independence through reflective practice and effective feedback. Ways to develop personal characteristics that improve interaction with the clinical fellow will be studied.
