What is often the largest barrier for those who want to become a Sports Certified Specialist? The test itself! Most of us have not taken such an intense test in quite some time and have forgotten the simple strategies that can greatly assist our test taking skills and preparation. In this course, students will be given specific strategies to streamline studying and boost scores on the exam by utilizing a systematic approach, learning preferences, and deductive reasoning. This course is designed to guide you through the unknowns and boost your confidence so that you can make the most of your hard work and preparation when the exam day arrives.

1. Study Plan and Personal Portfolio
This chapter presents the participant with a strong method for crafting an effective, comprehensive personal study plan based on their strengths and weaknesses. It further introduces the participant to the timeline of preparation for the SCS and what it takes to prepare effectively. Finally, information on practice exams, the personal portfolio, and test taking errors are included.
2. Learning Styles and Exam Content
The first step to studying for the exam is to determine what type of learning style you have. This chapter suggests an effective tool to determine one’s preferred learning style as well as recommendations for how best to utilize this information in studying for and recalling information during the SCS exam.
3. Test-Taking Tips
This chapter by Holly Tanner will help provide strategies and tips to become familiar with in preparation for the exam. Participants will be guided through the format of the exam and how to best assess each question.
4. Signing Up and Exam Day
This last section walks through important dates and deadlines prior to exam day and the schedule of the day itself. Insider tips and recommendations play a key role in preparing the participant to confidently take the SCS exam.
