Chapters & Learning Objectives

Download Learning Objectives

1. Introduction

Lenny Macrina introduces the course, and provides an overview of the rotator cuff and labral pathologies that will be covered.

2. SLAP Lesions

Review the anatomy of the glenoid labrum and understand the mechanisms of injury for SLAP lesions. Understand the typical presentation of patients with SLAP lesions, and common tests to perform in the examination of such patients. Learn the post-op guidelines to follow and proper rehabilitation protocols for patients recovering from SLAP repair. You will go through each stage of rehabilitation for such patients on a week-by-week basis, and current research will be presented.

3. RTC Tears

Review rotator cuff anatomy and the common tests to perform on patients with a suspected rotator cuff tear. Understand the important post-op considerations and planning of a rehabilitation program for patients that undergo rotator cuff repair surgery. Learn about the implementation of rehabilitation programs for post-op rotator cuff repair patients, as well as the evidence and current research behind these protocols.

4. Shoulder Instability and Bankart Repairs

Review shoulder instability and the various surgical options for patients with instability, as well as the concominant procedures that can be performed. Bankart repairs in particular are examined, and learners will understand the post-op guidelines for such patients. Learn about the rehabilitation of patients with shoulder instability, including the protocols for patients following a Bankart repair surgery. Current evidence in support of this information is presented.
