The pediatric population requires special consideration in terms of orthopaedic examination and intervention. This course will provide the physical therapist with essential knowledge for appropriate management of disorders affecting the hip in individuals aged 0-21 years.

1. Anatomy and Biomechanics of the Hip Complex

This chapter will provide an overview of skeletal anatomy and biomechanical principles related to functional movement at the hip complex in developing individuals.

2. Clinical Examination Part I

This chapter will provide the participant with information on pathogenesis and recognition of salient information from the history and physical exam to aide in screening for referral.

3. Clinical Examination Part II: Interpretation and Intervention

This chapter will allow the participant to identify key features of common disorders from the history and physical exam for the management of pediatric individuals experiencing hip pain linked to the ICF-CY.

4. Clinical Examination Part III: Examination

This chapter will use a demonstration of a hip examination to discuss developmental dysplasia and stability deficits.
