PDGM is up and running and so are many home health agencies as they try to navigate in the new payment model. Moving from a concept to reality has unique challenges and early impacts should be monitored to ensure long term success. This session will examine the first few months of PDGM and identify both risks and opportunities agencies should be aware of. The results of a pre-session survey will be incorporated into the content.

Have the concerns discussed since PDGM was unveiled become reality with respect to utilization of therapy? This chapter will examine how PDGM has impacted therapy in the first few months.

2. ICD-10 Coding: Are We Achieving Accuracy and Timeliness?

Conceptually coding practices are not changed by PDGM but the reality of getting the necessary information in a timely manner can present challenges. This chapter will discuss ideas for effectively managing this process.

3. Visit Management: How Are We Planning Care?

PDGM did not change Medicare Coverage Criteria but how do agencies ensure that utilization is giving the beneficiary what they need - and not too much or too little. This chapter will explore strategies for patient centered clinical decision-making.
