In this course covering sexuality for pelvic floor practitioners by Talli Rosenbaum, users will discuss symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction and it’s effect on sexual health. Users will review literature regarding the role of the pelvic floor in sexual activity, and discuss sexual health and it’s relationship with pelvic floor health throughout the lifecycle. This review will include the stages of pregnancy, postpartum experiences, and the stages of menopause later in life. The course will conclude with an introduction to basic counseling skills, with an emphasis on appropriate sexual history taking and cultural sensitivity.

Talli Rosenbaum, MSc, PT, IF AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, earned a Masters in Clinical Sociology and Counseling from the University of North Texas in Neve Yerushalayim. 1. Role of the Pelvic Floor in Female Sexual Health - Part 1

Discuss symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction, and explain how PF symptoms affect sex.

2. Role of the Pelvic Floor in Female Sexual Health - Part 2

Review literature regarding role of PF in sexual activity, and discuss PF over-activity and painful sex.

3. Sexuality Throughout the Lifecycle - Pregnancy

Participants will discuss how different stages pregnancy affects sexuality and sexual functioning, address concerns of safety of sex during pregnancy, and offer alternate sexual positions for late pregnancy.

4. Sexuality Throughout the Lifecycle - Postpartum

Participants will demonstrate awareness of the physical and psychosocial changes during the postpartum period and how they affect sexual health and sexual function.

5. Sexuality Throughout the Lifecycle - Menopause

Participants will discuss changes during menopause and post menopause that impact on sexuality.

6. Addressing Sexual Issues in Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Practice

Participants will demonstrate basic knowledge of counseling skills, cultural sensitivity and sexual history taking.
