What are orthotics that can be effective in the management of upper extremity peripheral nerve injuries? This course will include a review of the upper extremity peripheral nerve anatomy and the specific injuries and compressions that can result in functional limitations. The use of orthosis and how it relates to the treatment of median, ulnar, and/or radial nerve dysfunction will also be discussed.

1. Orthotics for Ulnar Nerve Injuries

This chapter will review the anatomy of the ulnar nerve, as well as common injuries and compression sites. Orthoses for this condition will also be fabricated and reviewed.

2. Orthotics for Median Nerve Injuries

This chapter will review the anatomy of the median nerve, as well as the common injuries and compression sites. Identification of Pronator Syndrome, Anterior Interosseous Syndrome, Median Nerve Laceration, and Carpal Tunnel syndrome will be presented. Orthoses for these condition will also be reviewed.

3. Orthotics for Radial Nerve Injuries

This chapter will review the anatomy of the radial nerve, as well as common injuries and compression sites. Orthoses for this condition will also be reviewed. Participants will be able to list the advantages of a specific low profile orthosis for a radial nerve injury.
