The population is aging, which is leading to more residents residing in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. As elders have retained their teeth, they require more individualized oral care. Nursing Assistants are already overburdened by the necessary duties to be performed during their shifts. As a result, they may have difficulty providing routine oral care for residents. This course addresses the potential oral and systemic problems a decline in oral health can cause for elders, easy oral care techniques, and how collaborating with oral health professionals benefits this vulnerable population and the care team. This content is aimed at the nursing assistant and is also applicable for nurses.
