1. Determining the Monetary Value of a CPT Code

This chapter will teach participants how the Medicare program and other insurance carriers determine the monetary value for each CPT code billed by therapy providers. The chapter will also discuss the geographic cost price index and how payment from the Medicare program for outpatient therapy varies depending on your geographic location.

2. CPT Codes 92521 – 92524 and S9152

This chapter will teach participants the four primary evaluation CPT codes utilized by speech-language pathologists. The chapter will also discuss how to bill for a reevaluation performed on a Medicare patient as well as discuss HCPCS Level II code S9152 and how some non-Medicare insurance carriers are paying for this code for a speech therapy reevaluation.

3. CPT Codes 92507, 92508, 92520, and 92526

This chapter will teach participants the most common treatment CPT codes billed by speech-language pathologists. Examples of interventions that would be included within each CPT code will be provided.

4. CPT Codes 92597 - 92609

This chapter will teach participants the CPT codes that are used by speech-language pathologists who perform evaluations for voice prosthetic devices, non-speech generating communication devices, and speech-generating communication devices. Examples of each type of evaluation will be provided to assist the speech-language pathologist with reporting the correct CPT code.

5. CPT Codes 92610 – 96125 and CPT Codes 97127 and 97533

This chapter will teach participants the CPT codes that are used by speech-language pathologists who perform swallowing evaluations, aphasia assessments, and standardized cognitive performing testing. Treatment codes for cognitive function and sensory integrative techniques will also be explained. Examples of each type of evaluation and treatment code will be provided to assist the speech-language pathologist with reporting the correct CPT code.
