The third course in this series will focus on running form analysis. The physical examination described in the second course helped us determine the potential for normal and abnormal motion, and in this course, the running analysis will increase our understanding of how movement is manifested in the running form. Finally, a discussion of kinetic analysis, when combined with capacity testing, will be discussed to showcase how kinematics can be predicted.

1. 2-D Motion Analysis: Principles

This chapter will provide evidence-based support for how 2-D analysis can help identify key movement dysfunction in running and the most critical motions to analyze in a running analysis.

2. 2-D Motion Analysis: Practical Tips

This chapter will teach clinicians how to use basic video techniques to gather clinically practical information.

3. 2-D Motion Analysis: Rear View Checklist

This chapter will focus on the key movements that can be analyzed from a rear view and frontal plane analysis.

4. 2-D Motion Analysis: Side View Checklist

This chapter will focus on the key movements that can be analyzed from a side view sagittal plane analysis.

5. Running Form Patterns

This chapter will cover key movement patterns of the overstrider, frontal plane collapse, transverse plane twist, sagittal plane stiffness, and the springy runner. Movement reeducation, such as cadence changes and form drills, will be provided to address these movement patterns.
