Over the last ten years, telepractice has grown exponentially, allowing more clients to be served by highly qualified clinicians around the country and the world. Training prior to beginning services is critical to the successful provision of telepractice-based services and understanding differences between in-person and remote services, which assists clinicians in offering high-quality, productive sessions. This course will lay the groundwork for effective telepractice services. Participants will learn about current technology, laws and regulations, best practices in therapy, and preventing common barriers to telepractice.

She is a board-certified specialist in Child Language with extensive administrative experience running a multi-office private practice and leading a telepractice company's clinical department. 1. Technology

This section will introduce participants to the basic features of video conferencing platforms necessary for provision of speech and language services. It is important for clinicians to know what is available along with the basic features needed for therapy before they choose a platform.

2. Clinical Aspects of Telepractice

This section will survey the clinical aspects of telepractice. It will include clinician skills, client selection, and how telepractice differs from in-person therapy.

3. Different Settings

This chapter will cover important information about provision of telepractice services in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, and clinics or private practices. Included will be a discussion about what is needed to begin services in these settings, contracting, preparation, and evidence-base for these settings.

4. Barriers

This chapter discusses potential barriers, including state laws and regulations, third party reimbursement, finding e-helpers/facilitators, and client safety. Obtaining knowledge in these areas will assist clinicians in successful provision of telepractice services.
