In this Breakout, Lauren Eckerle, MA, CCC-SLP interviews Laura VanPuymbrouck, OTR/L on her study,
Promoting Client Goal Ownership in a Clinical Setting, recently published in the
Open Journal of Occupational Therapy.
Laura discusses the process of goal ownership, and how the simple process can be incorporated into many clients’ therapeutic experience. The use of goal ownership takes a step closer toward a true collaborative and client-centered therapeutic process. She explains how the benefits of incorporating client goal ownership into the therapy experience overshadow the time practitioners spend on the intervention and may translate into improved clinician-client collaboration.
This breakout session targets Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists who want to learn more about how to incorporate goal setting into the therapy process.
