Breaking News: PTs, OTs, & SLPs Added as Telehealth Providers

Breaking news

CMS has announced rehab therapy providers, including PT, OT, and SLP disciplines, have been added as eligible providers of telehealth services for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis. A CMS bulletin has more details on this and many additional regulatory actions taken to reduce and contain the spread of the disease.

The changes affect outpatient private practice providers billing Medicare Part B. It is not yet clear how the update will affect inpatient providers or hospital outpatient providers billing on a UB form. We encourage these providers to use caution and wait for additional guidance before billing Medicare for remote services.

For a listing of the codes available, refer to the previously released CMS document: Physicians and Other Clinicians: CMS Flexibilities to Fight COVID-19

We will share more information and news on these exciting developments as we learn more from CMS.
