5 Ways to Make the Most of MedBridge Templates

HEP templates

Taking advantage of the templates included in MedBridge’s Home Exercise Program platform is a great way to improve both efficiency and outcomes when working with patients. They allow you to save time, share ideas with your coworkers, and standardize your care across your entire organization. By using a template rather than starting from scratch, you can spend less time building programs and more time working directly with your patients.

These five tips from other HEP users will help you get the most possible benefit out of MedBridge’s templates feature so you can provide outstanding care for your patients.

1. Familiarize Yourself with the MedBridge Template Library

Before building your first template, take a few moments to browse our library of pre-built templates. These templates were developed by our content experts and based on the research and recommendations from the APTA Clinical Practice Guidelines. These templates can be assigned “as is” to your patients or as a starting point for you to edit and modify to meet your patients’ unique needs.

To find MedBridge’s templates, click the templates tab at the top of the HEP Builder. Then, select MedBridge Templates on the left side of the page. This will give you access to a wide range of templates for a variety of conditions.

2. Create Templates Based Around a Specific Treatment Protocol or Routine

Do you have a specific exercise program that you regularly assign to patients in order to achieve a specific goal? Building a template for that protocol or routine can be an excellent way to save a favored program and easily assign it to your patients.

After you’ve built your ideal program, click the “Save as Template” button, and it will be stored under “My Templates” for easy access. Once added to your patient’s program, you can make modifications to customize the program to address any unique needs before assigning it—without changing the original template.

3. Create a Template of Your Favorite Exercises Targeting a Body Part and Action

If there are specific exercises you typically assign to target a specific body part and action, for example, shoulder abduction), creating a template specifically for those exercises is a great way to store them for future addition to a patient’s program.

The template can also be easily customized by adding more exercises to the program, deleting exercises that aren’t needed, and editing exercise frequency as needed before distributing it to your patient.

4. Save a Patient Program as a Template for Future Use with Other Patients

If you create an effective program for a patient and would like to use it in the future, save it as a template. This makes it easier to assign that program to a different patient with the same or similar treatment needs rather than building the program from scratch.

When searching for exercises, all you’ll have to do is click the templates tab to quickly see all the templates you have available to you!

5. Share Templates with Your Fellow Providers

If you have a MedBridge Enterprise Subscription, you can securely share templates with other providers at your organization. From the Manage Templates page, you can see all the templates that have been shared with you by other providers. To share one of your templates, simply change the slider from grey to blue, and other providers will instantly have access to it. Sharing templates is a great way to encourage best practices and standardize care across your organization

Taking the time to master MedBridge’s HEP templates feature will help you make the best use of your time and maximize the effectiveness of the care you provide your patients. Put these tips into action the next time you’re working with a patient, and you’ll be well on your way to improving their outcomes and their life.
